Our story

St Francis of Assisi School at Newton opened in 1965, staffed by the Sisters of St Joseph, with 70 children in Years 1 to 3. The parish had begun in the early 1950s as an Italian migrant centre, with a church opened in 1953.

The school grew quickly, adding an open space unit in 1975 for two classes per year level. It remains a Reception to Year 6 parish school working closely with St Francis of Assisi Church.
