Our story
Cornerstone College began with a vision in 1984, when Adelaide Hills residents from several Christian denominations wanted a Christian secondary school for the Hills. They joined with the Lutheran Church to set it up, and the college opened at Mount Barker in 1990 with 49 students, six staff and a handful of temporary buildings.
It now sits on about 16 hectares at Mount Barker with more than 900 students from Year 7 to Year 12, and its governing board still includes members of Lutheran congregations and other Hills churches. The motto is ‘Christ our firm foundation’. Cornerstone is a co-educational Lutheran college, part of Lutheran Education Australia, and works closely with the three Lutheran primary schools of the Adelaide Hills.
