Our story
Annesley began in 1902 as Methodist Ladies’ College, a day and boarding school for girls that opened at Malvern with 19 students. In 1904 it moved to its present home on Rose Terrace, Wayville, beside Greenhill Road, and Gillingham Hall, built in 1926, is still the heart of the school for assemblies and community events.
The college was renamed Annesley College in 1977, when the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational churches joined to form the Uniting Church. The name honours Susanna Annesley, the mother of Methodism’s founder John Wesley. In 2012 the school became Annesley Junior School, a co-educational school for children from two years old to Year 6.
