Concordia’s roots are in country Victoria. In 1890 Pastor W. F. Peters re-established a small private school at Murtoa as a Lutheran boys’ college, partly to train future pastors and teachers. Lutheran leaders in South Australia moved the college to its present Highgate site in 1905.
More recently it has grown by joining with its neighbours: in 2016 it amalgamated with St John’s Lutheran School next door to become an early learning to Year 12 college, and in 2023 St Peters Lutheran School at Blackwood joined too. Today Concordia is a co-educational school of the Lutheran Church of Australia across three campuses (two at Highgate, one at Blackwood), with about 1,312 students (2025). It has been an IB World School since 2001.
