Our story

Suneden was the first special school to open in South Australia, in 1943. Elsa Burridge founded it at 27 to teach children who could not get into mainstream schools. It started in her 'Sunny Den', moved to a house in Unley in 1954 and to Mitchell Park in 1966.

It is an independent special school for students with intellectual disability, with allied health staff, a gym, its own bus service and a transition-to-work program.
