Our story
Dara School grew out of meetings that began in late 2013 among people who believed mainstream schooling was not meeting the needs of gifted children. It opened in 2017 with 14 students as a school dedicated to gifted education, and spent its first three years in two classrooms at Ascot Park Primary School.
In 2020 Dara moved into Cobham Hall in Morphettville, a heritage-listed manor beside the Warriparri (Sturt) River that was rebuilt in 1927 and refurbished for the school; the school bought the site in 2023. A new building for students in Year 9 and above was finished in 2025, with a second stage planned. Dara is a secular, independent, co-educational school with deliberately small classes and a personalised education plan for every student. It had 97 students in 2025.
