Our story
St Peter’s Woodlands traces its roots to 1863, when the Parish of St Peter’s at Glenelg opened a day school for local children. For more than a century it served the Glenelg area and later became St Peter’s Glenelg Anglican Grammar School. Its present home is the historic Partridge Street site of Woodlands Church of England Girls Grammar School, whose Law Smith Building and grounds were left to the Church of England by the Law Smith family in 1923 for the education of girls.
When Woodlands closed in 1998, St Peter’s Glenelg took over its campus, and in 1999 the combined school opened as St Peter’s Woodlands Grammar School, keeping traditions of both schools such as St Margaret’s Day. An early learning centre for children from two years old opened in 2016. Today it is an Anglican co-educational primary school from early learning to Year 6 in Glenelg.
