Our story
Hills Christian Community School, known as HILLS, opened in February 1983 in the old Verdun Primary School buildings on Onkaparinga Valley Road, Verdun. It was set up by parents who wanted a good education for their children in a caring setting built on Christian values. It has no formal tie to any church, but keeps close links with the local churches of the Adelaide Hills.
Over the years the school added an early learning centre, a multi-purpose hall and, in 2013, a secondary school at Oakbank. It bought the neighbouring property on the Onkaparinga River, whose historic house is now the Year 7 centre, Rivermont, and nature play and environmental studies are a big part of school life. New secondary buildings let the whole school come together on the Verdun site in 2020, and a middle school and music centre followed in 2024. HILLS now has more than 540 students from the ELC to Year 12.
