Our story
Tatachilla Lutheran College grew from a vision held by the Reverend Garrie Fischer for a Lutheran school in the McLaren Vale wine region, built, as the college puts it, on an ancient sandstone rock. It opened in 1995 with a single Year 8 class of 67 founding students on Tatachilla Road, McLaren Vale.
The college added year levels over the following years and is now a co-educational Lutheran school from Reception to Year 12, with about 1,100 students and an early learning centre and out-of-school-hours care. It marked its 30th year in 2025. Its foundation verse is the parable of the wise man who built his house on rock (Matthew 7:24–27).
