Our story
Star of the Sea School began in December 1912, when the Sisters of Mercy opened a small school in a Henley Beach cottage called ‘Star of the Sea’, on what is now the school’s playing area. Archbishop Spence laid the foundation stone for the convent on 16 February 1922, and by 1960 the school had 300 students.
It became a parish primary school for boys and girls in 1986 and now has more than 500 students in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish, Henley Beach. Its motto is ‘Open Hearts, Open Minds’.
