Our story
St Andrew’s School grew out of St Andrew’s Church in Walkerville, built in 1847 by the first families of John Walker’s village, only eleven years after the colony was proclaimed. The parish followed it with a primary school, and the original sandstone schoolroom opened on 23 September 1850. It still stands as part of the school.
In 1978 St Andrew’s Church handed the school to a new body, St Andrew’s School Incorporated, and the school and the church still work closely together. Today it is an independent, co-educational Anglican school for early learning through to Year 6, with about 360 students on its Walkerville site.
