Our story
Southern Montessori School began in 1983 as a preschool, set up by southern suburbs parents who wanted a Montessori education for their children. Numbers grew quickly, a primary school followed in 1989, and in 1995 the school moved to its permanent home at O’Sullivan Beach, which was officially opened in August 1996.
An adolescent program for Years 7 and 8 was first offered in 2014, and in 2019 a purpose-built middle school for Years 7 to 9 opened at Woodcroft, sharing its site with Kalyra aged care so that students and residents can learn from each other. Today the school teaches children from eight months old to Year 9, through baby, toddler, preschool, primary and middle school programs.
