Our story
Pedare grew from a plan by the Anglican parishes of Tea Tree Gully and Modbury and the Uniting Church parishes of Tea Tree Gully and Golden Grove for a school that would make students life-long learners. When the Golden Grove developers proposed a ‘Joint Schools’ project with a Catholic college and a state high school, the founders joined it, and the college opened in 1986 with 90 students in Years 7 and 8.
The name comes from a Modbury vineyard of the Tolley family, formed from the first letters of the names of Leonard Tolley’s sons Peter, David and Reginald, and a small patch of vines is kept at the Surrey Farm Drive campus. All secondary years were offered by 1990, a junior campus on Bicentennial Drive followed in 1993, and in 2005 the middle school moved to Surrey Farm Drive. Today Pedare is a co-educational Anglican and Uniting Church school from Reception to Year 12.
