Our story
Kildare College was set up by the Brigidine Sisters as a girls’ school for Years 7 to 12. Classes began in February 1966 with 32 students, and the college was officially opened on 13 March that year. The sisters lived in the college convent until the end of 1990.
The Brigidine order was founded in Ireland in 1807 by Bishop Daniel Delany of Kildare and Leighlin, and the school’s symbols come from St Brigid: the lamp of learning and the tradition of the Brigidine fire. A new house, Nagle House, was added in 2018.
